If you could do one simple thing for a few minutes each day that would:
- Boost your immune system
- Decrease physical pain
- Lower stress hormones
- Relax tense muscles
- Improve your blood flow function
- Help prevent heart disease
- Ease anxiety and fear
- Improve your mood
- Make you more resilient
- Improve your relationships
- Make you more attractive and appealing
- Reduce conflict and confusion in your life
- Bring you great and joy
Would you do it?
It wouldn’t even require you to think very long or hard about anything. And it wouldn’t cost you tons of money or time. Want to know what such a simple thing is that can do all that and more?
LAUGHTER!
Yep. Laughter is truly great medicine.
Just watch children and how happy and joyful they are and how much they laugh! As we get older we tend to not laugh as much. This is a tragedy to our health, our well being and society. We need to laugh more! Especially with all the sadness and turmoil that is going on in the world. Laughter can bring us peace, joy and understanding and help us better deal with hard things in life.
I’m not saying to laugh at what terrible things are happening, not at all. Just don’t let such terrible things that are happening rob you of the benefits of laughter in your own life. A little laughter can go a long way in bringing peace and joy into a sad and lonely life and world.
Instead of watching all the news and reading posts on all the tragic and hateful things that are happening try watching a funny TV show or movie instead. Look at some old comic strips and books. Grab your kids and do some impromptu acting (click here for one I did with my kids awhile ago).
I know that life can get busy and filled up with all we have to do with business, family, home and life. But as an old proverb states: “If you are too busy to laugh, you are too busy.” Don’t let life get you so busy that you can’t take time to laugh. Your physical, mental and emotional health are at stake here. Don’t let them suffer because you had to write another email, or read and comment on another post, or clean another toilet, or put in another load of laundry, or run one more errand.
Now I know those things are all important to do and I’m not saying don’t do them, I’m just saying don’t let them take away from experiencing the joy of laughter in your daily life.
Better yet, laugh at and while you’re doing some of them.
Laugh at the heaping pile of laundry. Pretend it’s a mountain you’re climbing and finally conquered as you fall into the pile and laugh.
Laugh at the disgusting dirty toilet. Attack all the gunk that’s piled up around it with your powerful magic scrub brush from outer space that has come to kill and destroy all bacteria and debris as you let out an evil cackle!
Write that email and send a post but add something funny that will brighten someone else’s day and bring laughter into their life too.
“The most wasted of all days is one without laughter.” –ee cummings
Don’t waste another day! Go experience the joy of laughter now!
Please comment and share something funny for me and others to get a laugh at as well!
